MIRAI NETTSU was established as a joint venture between Shincoh Co. Ltd. (SHINCOH) and ThermaPrime Drilling Corporation (THERMA PRIME). Mirai Nettsu will provide the best services to its customers by combining SHINCOH’s long experience in business in Japan and THERMAPRIME’s technology and manpower.
MIRAI NETTSU Geothermal Well Drilling
SHINCOH has decades of geothermal drilling experience since 1982, mainly in the Kyushu area. SHINCOH has contributed to geothermal development mainly by employing overseas contractors, and in the past, through a partnership with CPC of Taiwan.
On the other hand, THERMAPRIME originated from PNOC-EDI (Energy Drilling Inc.), the drilling division of the Philippine National Oil Corporation (PNOC), which was transferred to PNOC and merged with EDI to develop geothermal energy. The Lopez Group, one of the Philippines’ major conglomerates, took over the PNOC-EDC (Energy Drilling Corporation), which was transferred to PNOC and merged with EDI to pursue geothermal development, under the privatization trend.
Now the second largest geothermal power in the world, THERMAPRIME has inherited EDC’s wealth of experience and human resources as a leading drilling contractor in the Philippines, and is contributing to drilling not only in the Philippines but also overseas.
MiraiNettsu was established as a joint venture between these two companies, combining SHINCOH’s long experience in domestic operations with THERMAPRIME’s technology and manpower to provide the best possible service to our customers.

THERMAPRIME’s Experience
We have drilled more than 100 new wells and approximately 100 workover wells in the Philippines, Indonesia, New Guinea, Kenya, and other projects.
SHINCOH’s Experience
Since 1982, SHINCOH has drilled numerous wells for Kyushu Electric Power Company’s geothermal power generation projects using drilling rigs owned by Kyushu Electric Power Company. SHINCOH also undertakes several geothermal, natural gas, and research wells per year in the Tohoku region.
